This is our little story:

This is our little story:
Les Jardins Lemmy Lou is a family-run agricultural business involved in the production of microgreens. We are located in Stanbridge East in the beautiful region of Brome-Missisquoi.

It was in 2019, following the important decision to leave our careers and our urban life in Montreal, that we moved to the region with the deep conviction that we had to invest ourselves professionally in the agricultural industry. After several months of construction work to transform the family garage into a commercial production space, we began the production of our first microgreens in the spring of 2020.

This venture represents the adoption of a new lifestyle and the opportunity to combine values and passion by offering a healthy, delicious and local product to the people of our community.

our values

responsabilities

Responsible farming

We have an obligation to meet our environmental and community responsibilities as a determining factor in our farm operations. As an agricultural business, we aim to minimize our environmental footprint through our environmentally responsible practices and our willingness to optimize our techniques in that direction.

quality

Rigorous quality, all year long

We offer products of the highest quality, 365 days a year. The hyper-controlled environment of our installation ensures a fresh and delicious product at each harvest.

proximity

From the farm to the plate

We are actively participating in the change towards equitable access to fresh, healthy and local products for our regional community. Our availability as producers allows us to establish and maintain a relationship of trust with our customers.

family

From our family to yours

Our family business symbolizes a way of life more than a profession. We invest our family in this duty to cultivate and provide fresh, healthy and delicious products to the families in our community. We favour a small-scale culture in order to commit to the quality of our products and our personalized service, while preserving our family life moments.

our story

We are Mélanie and Danny, a solid and supportive couple and parents of two wonderful children (Lou: 9 yo and Lemmy: 5 yo). We have made the decision to leave our careers and our urban Montreal life behind and move our little family to Stanbridge East in the beautiful Brome-Missisquoi region.

We have always seen ourselves as true urbanites. The excitement and cultural richness of the city has been a primary need for our happiness for many years. However, the arrival of our children has caused us to deeply question our values. We came to the conclusion that the hectic pace of the city, its concrete landscape and the quality of life that resulted from it did not represent the environment in which we wanted our children to grow up and evolve. We want to appreciate what nature offers us and see our children flourish freely in this authentic richness.

Motivated by the desire to settle in the region for several years, our awareness to the problems of the global food supply chain has led us to the obvious conclusion that we must make this our vocation. Cultivating a healthy, delicious and local product in order to offer it to our community is undoubtedly our greatest source of motivation to surpass ourselves in this new challenge. We take this opportunity to combine values and passion to invest in this microgreens farm.

Our interest in agriculture has grown over the years thanks to the family vegetable garden that we maintain with great pleasure every summer. These few months allow us to experience this closeness to the land and to derive the satisfaction of cooking and eating the food we have produced. This desire to produce our own food has led us to discover the wonderful world of microgreens.

We want to be an integral part of our community and work with existing agricultural companies to actively participate in the optimization of the region’s food supply model. Finally, we must offer consumers in our regional community the opportunity to make a decisive move by adopting a responsible and local consumption, one green at a time.

Thank you for your support!

our installation

Our farm is inspired by urban agriculture initiatives. These facilities are based on a vertical cultivation in order to maximize production space. In response to the environmental issues of our time, these production techniques are now expanding into the peri-urban environments of metropolitan areas.

Limited surface area

Our facility occupies a space of only 320 square feet. We maximize production space while ensuring optimal conditions for increased productivity and consistency in the quality of our microgreens.

A year round production

With a production capacity of 280 trays per month, our farm allows us to cultivate a healthy and delicious product all year long.

Low water consumption

Our farm uses a very small amount of water since it is contained within the trays keeping the soil moist for a long period of time. Moreover, we take care to analyze our water regularly to avoid any alteration to the growth or quality of our product.

Low electricity consumption

We use energy-efficient LED lighting that promotes the growth and vitality of our product. In addition, our small surface area allows us to reduce our energy consumption for heating and air conditioning.
